Jim Puleo's two-run double in the seventh inning, his second hit of the game, drove in the tying and game-winning runs Friday evening as West-Herr edged Orchard Park, 5-4, at Green Lake, Orchard Park.
The win improved West-Herr to 5-2 in the Lake Shore League of The Buffalo News Suburban Baseball Association. Orchard Park fell to 4-3.
Puleo's double scored Dave Kacmarski and Paul Kellner who had singled ahead of him. Randy Ramaekers hit a two-run homer and Jeff Evancho got the pitching win with two innings of relief for West-Herr.
Erie-Niagara: Jamie Seitz tossed a two-hitter over six innings as Lockport Bus routed intercity rival DMI, 12-1. Vinnie Del Oso had two hits (homer) for five RBIs while Scott Perry hit a triple and double (four RBIs) and Todd Neumann was 2 for 3 (two RBIs) for Bus (6-4-2). DMI is 5-6. . . . Clarence trounced Lancaster, 8-2, on Joe Weller's five-hitter over five innings. Ron Kiener had three hits (two RBIs) while Jim Honsberger (two RBIs) and Dave Bankoske (one RBI) had two hits each for Clarence (3-7). Lancaster is 3-8.
Central League: The league's annual all-star game will start at 7:30 this evening at Belfast's new lighted field. Michael Tanner, manager of Delevan-Arcade, will pilot the North All-Stars, which includes players from Delevan-Arcade, Holland, West Falls, East Aurora, Eden and Chaffee-Sardinia.
The South All-Stars, to be managed by Freedom's Phil Tanner, includes players from Freedom, Belfast, Fillmore, Friendship, Gowanda and Morton's Corners.
