The National Conference of Christians and Jews Inc. will sponsor an informational meeting, "Rebuilding New York," at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Niagara, 639 Main St.
The purpose of the meeting is to recruit about two-dozen persons to attend a conference of the New York State Martin Luther King Jr. Institute for Non-violence in Hempstead, L.I., from Aug. 12 to 16, said NCCJ executive director Claudia L. MacDonald.
The Rev. David Bulger and Lester Carter, both of the institute, based in Albany, will speak Thursday. The Hempstead workshop is designed to teach about non-violence and its use in solving problems at the community level.
