THICKER THAN WATER

One of the rites of summer is the sudden appearance of distant, long-lost relatives. Such is the case for News staffer Louise Continelli, who learned this week of the imminent return of a second cousin, Brian Nevin, who was born here but moved to the Denver area as a child. Now he's the drummer for a blues-rock trio from Boulder, Colo., called Big Head Todd and the Monsters, which is showing up Wednesday night in Marshall's, 1678 Main St. Favorites in their hometown -- their independently released 1989 debut album, "Another Mayberry," outsold the Cure and U2 in record stores there -- they're making their first extended tour of the East.
