SERENADING SHAKESPEARE

They're calling it "Shakespeare Sings the Blues" and "Billie Meets Willie," the preliminary performance to Tuesday night's season debut of Shakespeare in Delaware Park. Featured at 6:45 p.m., prior to "The Merry Wives of Windsor," is jazz singer Joyce Carolyn, whose portrayal of Billie Holiday in "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill" for the Theatre of Youth last fall played a twice-extended run to rave reviews. Joining her for Billie Holiday songs and other favorites is not the Emerson's band, but rather a quartet of other local jazz notables -- guitarist Greg Millar, bassist Rodney Appleby, vibist Joanne Lorenzo and drummer John Bacon Jr.
