PAUL WILHELM, CARPENTER ACTIVE IN CHURCH

A Mass of Christian Burial for Paul V. Wilhelm, a carpenter, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 2019 George Urban Blvd., Depew, after prayers at 9 in the Urban Funeral Home, 3645 Genesee St., Cheektowaga. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery, West Seneca.

Wilhelm, 72, of Cheektowaga, died Wednesday (June 20, 1990) in the Hospice of Buffalo after a lengthy illness.

Born in Tiffin, Ohio, Wilhelm served in the Philippines and Japan with the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He moved to the Buffalo area in the 1940s.

He was a longtime member of Carpenters Union Local 1401 and the Father Justin Council, Knights of Columbus. He also was an elector at St. Barnabas Church and a member of the church's Holy Name Society and Nocturnal Adoration Society. He was president of the St. Barnabas Seniors.

Survivors include his wife, the former Emily R. Hoppa of Cheektowaga; three sons, Robert of Columbus, Ohio, David of Alabama and Paul; two daughters, Katherine Simonton of New Hampshire and Margaret of Boston; six brothers, Raymond and John of Tiffin and Bill, Don, Gene and Karl, all of Cleveland; four sisters, Helen and Alice Rippinger of Chicago, Sister Mary Beth Wilhelm of Hudson, Wis., and Dorothy Droll of Fostoria, Ohio, and 11 grandchildren.
