JANITORIAL WORKER CHARGED IN THEFT FROM AUTO AGENCY

State police Thursday said that a janitorial employee also cleaned out the safe at Mike Smith's Auto Agency, 6014 S. Transit Road.

Senior Investigator Richard Flis and Trooper Charles Richardson said they found that $1,348 in cash had been taken from an unlocked safe.

Charged with grand larceny, possession of marijuana and parole violation was James F. McPhail Jr., 23, of
133 Hawley St.

Troopers said that they recovered $461 in cash and three money orders that the suspect had purchased.

"He used the balance for drinking, buying drugs and a new pair of shoes," the suspect said, according to authorities.
