An East Otto man was arrested Thursday morning at the end of the chase of a stolen pickup truck that began in Cattaraugus County and ended at Route 39 and Bagdad Road in Erie County, where police cars from three agencies boxed it in.
Kelly R. Thompson, 22, of Hammond Hill Road, East Otto, was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and several traffic violations.
Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies said that even when boxed in, Thompson kept ramming the patrol cars in an attempt to escape again. But police shot the truck's tires flat, deputies aid.
State police and Erie County sheriff's deputies plan to file reckless endangerment and additional traffic charges,
Thompson was treated at Tri-County Memorial Hospital in Gowanda for minor injuries, then released. He was arraigned before Town of Napoli Justice Herbert Ahlers, and is in the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
