Republican Pierre Rinfret, the political newcomer making a long-shot bid to unseat Gov. Cuomo, remains "Pierre Who?" to many New Yorkers, according to the results of a poll published Wednesday by the weekly New York Observer.
It had Democrat Cuomo as the choice of 62 percent of those surveyed in New York City. Rinfret, a wealthy Canadian-born economist making his first run for office, was picked by 5 percent.
Herbert London, the Conservative Party candidate and a New York University professor who briefly sought the GOP nomination for mayor of New York City last year, was the choice of 4 percent of those surveyed. Twenty-eight percent were undecided.
The Observer poll involved only New York City residents but was the first benchmark of the gubernatorial campaign.
