City Comptroller Joel A. Giambra has won the support of the union representing the Buffalo Fire Department in his bid to retain the office.
Giambra, now serving by appointment, is running as the endorsed candidate of the Democratic and Liberal parties.
Local 282, Buffalo Professional Firefighters Association, which has nearly 1,000 members, also announced it is supporting Rep. Henry J. Nowak, D-Buffalo, 33rd District, and the following state legislators for re-election:
State Senate: William T. Stachowski, D-Buffalo, 57th District; Anthony M. Masiello, D-Buffalo, 58th; Dale M. Volker, R-Depew, 59th, and John B. Sheffer II, R-Williamsville, 60th.
Assembly: Robin L. Schimminger, D-Kenmore, 140th District; Arthur O. Eve, D-Buffalo, 141st; Richard R. Anderson, R-Amherst, 142nd; Paul A. Tokasz, D-Cheektowaga, 143rd; William B.
