Anthony J. Kalita Sr., 73, a veteran of World War II and an active member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, died Wednesday (June 20, 1990) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
A native of Niagara Falls, Kalita attended local schools and graduated from Trott Vocational High School.
During World War II, he served in the Army in the Pacific and was awarded a Purple Heart.
Kalita was a shipping clerk at the National Carbon Division of Union Carbide Corp. for 43 years before he retired in 1979. He was a member of Post 54, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Plewak Kalita; two sons, Robert of Rochester and Anthony; a sister, Helen Furgal, and two grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 2437 Niagara St. Prayers will be said at 9:15 in the Zajac Funeral Home, 319 24th St. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Lewiston.
