5 HURT AS CAR RUNS LIGHT, IS STRUCK BY MOTORCYCLE

Five people were injured, one seriously, when a motorcycle and car collided Wednesday evening at Transit Road and Seneca Street in West Seneca, town police said.

Christopher Szalay, 19, of 190 Bullis Road, West Seneca, the motorcyclist, was taken by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition today with multiple injuries.

Laurel Latt, 20, of 1502 Netherton Court, East Amherst, driver of the car, and Michael Wojciechowski, 22, a passenger, were taken to Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Lackawanna. Both were treated and released Wednesday night.

Police said Christian Halt, 9, and her brother, Ched Halt, 13, also passengers, were taken to Children's Hospital with multiple injuries. They also were treated and released.

Officer Gary Pauly reported the Latt car was southbound on Transit and ran a red light at the intersection when it was struck by the motorcycle going west on Seneca. Ms. Latt was charged with going through a red light, Pauly said.
