2 KILLED, 2 HURT IN BOLIVAR AS DRIVER OF CAR FALLS ASLEEP

Two people were killed and two were injured early today when a car slammed into a tree after the driver fell asleep at the wheel on Route 417 here, state troopers at Wellsville reported.

The dead were identified as Brent W. Ginter, 19, of High Street, Ceres, and Paul R. Rapan, 19, of South Main Street, Bolivar.

Taken to St. Francis Hospital, Olean, following the 3:10 a.m. one-car crash were the driver, Clinton D. Burdick, 18, of South Main Street, Bolivar, who suffered a fractured shoulder and fractured leg, and Scott A. Olmstead, 19, of South Bolivar Road, Bolivar, who also suffered a broken leg.

Police reported that the car was headed east on Route 417, about two miles west of Horse Run Road, when Burdick fell asleep. The car went off the road and slammed into the tree.
