A Chautauqua County grand jury Wednesday indicted Willie Bowie of Jamestown on charges of second-degree attempted murder and first-degree
Police said Bowie stabbed a Jamestown woman nine times after she rejected his sexual advances in her West Seventh Street apartment. Before the stabbing, police said, Bowie tried to strangle the woman with a cord.
The woman, with the help of a neighbor, fled to another apartment. Police said Bowie fled when police arrived but was captured nearby by Patrolman Daniel Feather.
A preliminary arraignment for Bowie was held Wednesday in County Court. He was returned to Chautauqua County Jail pending completion of the arraignment Monday.
