Woodrow Smith, 61, of 1053 Fairfield Ave. was arrested Tuesday on a felony assault complaint in last Friday's shooting of an Ontario Avenue man.
He pleaded innocent at his City Court arraignment and was granted a one-week adjournment by City Judge Mark Violante.
Detectives Anthony Conte and John Donner accused him of firing a shotgun from his front porch at 11 p.m. Friday, injuring Tyrone Clark of 947 Ontario Ave., who was struck by eight pellets. Clark was treated in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and released.
Police said they recovered the weapon, which Smith told them he used to "get rid of drug dealers" near his home.
