SWARTS SAYS HE WILL SEEK NEW TERM AS COUNTY CLERK

David J. Swarts announced Monday he plans to seek re-election as Erie County clerk.

Swarts, 42, an Elma Democrat, made his announcement in the Monsignor Nash Knights of Columbus Hall, 261 Legion Drive. He was first elected to the post in 1986.

A former teacher, Swarts has served as clerk of the County Legislature and secretary of the Democratic County Committee and ran unsuccessfully for county executive in 1983 and for Congress in 1988.
