Trustee Michael Sullivan announced Monday night that he will not run for re-election, despite the endorsement of the Republican caucus.
He is a deputy Chautauqua County attorney. The new county ethics law could raise questions about conflicts of interest, he said.
The county is involved in a lawsuit over the Water Street bridge and the damage of the 1986 floods. Also the county and the village have a contract under which the village treats leachate from the county landfill.
Sullivan said he may run in the future and has closed no doors to public service.
