MUSIC NOTES

Flutist Rhonda Schwartz, pianist Nancy Townsend and harpist Beth Anne Breneman will offer an all-American recital of works of Robert Mols, Vincent Persichetti, Aaron Copland and Howard Hanson, Monday at 8 p.m. in Slee Hall, University at Buffalo North Campus.

The Buffalo Philharmonic will conduct open rehearsals next Tuesday at 10 a.m. and 1:45 p.m., and Feb. 7 at 10 a.m., in Slee Hall, UB North Campus, in preparation for the next concert in the series Live Sessions at UB, Feb. 7 at 8 p.m. in Slee Hall.

The St. Olaf Choir of Northfield, Minn., will sing next Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Kleinhans Music Hall. Kenneth Jennings will conduct the choir in a repertory that features Baroque and classical chorales, mainly with religious themes.

The Maelstrom Percussion Ensemble will perform Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Ebenezer United Church of Christ Christian Education Building, 616 Main St., West Seneca.

Erie County Wind Ensemble under the direction of Charles Peltz will perform works of Walton, Copland, Holst and others, Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Allen Hall, University at Buffalo South Campus. Pianist Claudia Hoca will be the featured soloist.

Soprano Susan Hartney with pianist Bruce Neswick will present the midday recital, Friday at 12:30 p.m. in St. Paul's Cathedral, Main Street at Cathedral Park.

Baritone Michael Harris will entertain for the Lancaster Historical Society Parlour Series, Sunday at 2 p.m. in the museum, 40 Clark St., Lancaster.

First Sundays at Four in the Church of the Ascension, Linwood at North, will feature folk singer Carles Rosenberg at 4 p.m. Sunday.

"Reflections on Wozzeck," an Inside Opera lecture by Herbert Winter for Operabuffs of Western New York, will begin at 10:15 a.m. Saturday in the Eggertsville-Snyder Library, 4622 Main St. The Canadian Opera Company is staging the Alban Berg opera at the O'Keefe Centre, Toronto, through Feb. 11.

The United Gospel Seminar Concert Choir will perform Saturday at 7 p.m. at Word of Life Ministries, Hyde Park and Porter Road, Niagara Falls.

Bass-baritone Zhu Chen Chan and fortepianist Karen Swietlik will perform Sunday at 3 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, Cayuga and Fifth, Lewiston.

Vocal music for small ensembles by Brahms and Schickele will be presented Sunday at 4 p.m. in Diers Recital Hall, Fredonia State College. Recitalists will be Walter S. Mayo, John Fleischman Jr., Cynthia Gould Mayo, Elenora J. Seib and Laurie Lasher Tramuta.

Bassoonist John Gillette will play a faculty recital next Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Diers Recital Hall.

Orchard Park High School's band concert will feature a flute concertino and a medley of songs from "Fiddler on the Roof," Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the school, 4040 Baker Road, Orchard Park. The program will feature flutist Kate Ackerman, vocalist Bruce Gustafson, the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and Checkmates.
