MISSION GETS $7,500 FROM HOCKEY GAME

The Dec. 16 charity hockey game between alumni of the Buffalo Sabres and the Hollywood All-Stars netted $7,500 for the City Mission, one of three charities benefiting from the event in Memorial Auditorium.

Former Sabre Danny Gare said a check will be presented today to the Rev. Darwin Overholt of the City Mission.

Fred Stanfield, president of the Buffalo Sabres Alumni Association, will make the presentation.

About 13,000 fans paid to see celebrities like Alan Thicke of "Growing Pains," Richard Dean Anderson of "MacGyver," Dave Coulier of "Full House" and sportscaster John Saunders of ESPN play against Gare, Stanfield and former Sabres Don Luce, Bill Hajt, Larry Carriere and Craig Ramsay.

Gare said the group also will present checks to The Buffalo News Neediest Fund and the Western New York Amateur Hockey Association.
