Police said a man who was on parole for a burglary was arrested Monday night in a break-in at a Briggs Street house.
Lawrence Blair, 44, of Crowley Avenue was charged with burglary, assault, harassment, possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, assault, resisting arrest, escape and possession of a burglary tool.
Hertel Station Officer Anthony Porzio arrested Blair after a chase in which the officer suffered an injured ankle. Police said Blair stepped on Porzio's ankle and also tried to stab him in the head with a screwdriver. Officer Obed Casillas helped subdue the suspect, police said.
Lt. Margaret Mackiewicz and Officer Mark Makowski also assisted in the arrest.
