Bausch & Lomb's revenues, operating earnings and net earnings all reached record levels during the fourth quarter of 1989, the optical company reported Monday.
The company's full-year earnings in 1989 also surpassed all previous years.
During the fourth quarter in 1989, sales increased 16 percent to $306.4 million compared to $264.3 million a year ago.
Operating earnings rose 15 percent to $61.4 million versus $53.3 million, and net earnings advanced to $34.4 million or $1.13 per share, increases of 19 and 16 percent, respectively, over the $28.9 million or 97 cents per share earned in the 1988 fourth quarter.
Bausch & Lomb revenues in 1989 totaled a record $1.220 billion, 25 percent above the 1988 amount of $978.3 million.
Operating earnings for the year rose 24 percent to $231.3 million versus $186.2 million.
Net earnings for 1989 totaled $114.4 million, 17 percent above the previous year's result of $97.9 million, while earnings per share increased 16 percent to $3.78 versus $3.27.
