UPSTAIRS NEIGHBOR'S DOG BITES AMHERST STREET GIRL

A 7-year-old girl was treated Sunday in Millard Fillmore Hospital and released after being bitten by a neighbor's dog, Hertel Station police said.

Sari Casillas was visiting neighbors who live in the upper apartment at 468 Amherst St. when a mixed-breed Labrador bit her under the ribs about 9:15 p.m., police said. Sari, who lives in the lower apartment at 468 Amherst, was quickly taken to the hospital.

Police said the dog was not provoked. The animal has had shots for rabies and other diseases. The owner was not charged.
