TEEN FACES 21 CHARGES AFTER STOLEN-CAR CHASE

Police said a 16-year-old youth was arrested on 21 charges shortly after 2:30 a.m. Sunday after they chased a stolen car that crashed into a tree off East North and Ellicott streets.

Christopher M. Wolf of 27 Monroe St. was charged with reckless endangerment, unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of a burglar tool, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and obstructing governmental administration.

A passenger in the car, Deanna L. Clifton, 18, of 1846 Kenmore Ave., was charged with possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

After the crash, Wolf tried to escape on foot through the Pilgrim Village housing project. But West Ferry Station Officers Steven Malkowski and Barry Gawlick caught him after a short chase, police said.

Wolf also faces charges of reckless driving, speeding, aggravated unlicensed operation and going through five red lights and six stop signs.

Police said the car had been stolen on West Utica Street.

The officers said they gave chase to an erraticly moving car on Richmond Avenue near North Street when it sped away from them.
