Services for John M. Mayne, an Internal Revenue Service agent who served on the Lake Shore Central School Board for the past 20 years, will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday in First Congregational United Church of Christ, Main Street, Angola.
Mayne, 64, died Saturday (Jan. 27, 1990) in his Derby home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Springville, he graduated from the University of Buffalo in 1951 with a degree in accounting.
Mayne served in the Army during World War II and received three Purple Hearts in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of Evans Township Post 5798, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Newcomb-Long Post 928, American Legion.
He had been an IRS agent for 38 years.
He was secretary of the Evans Township Lions Club, a member of the Evans-Brant Chamber of Commerce and past treasurer of Troop 578, Boy Scouts of America.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, the former Irene L. Caron; four daughters, Linda Reimer, Tebra Howard, Candice DoEpp and Irene; five sons, Jack, Kevin, Kerry, Tracy and Kelly; a brother, retired Lt. Col. Robert K., and 12 grandchildren.
