A Bliss man was injured early Saturday morning when the car he was driving collided with a freight train.

Robert Strozewski, 41, of Washburn Road suffered facial, chest and leg injuries but refused treatment at the scene, according to state police. Police described the car as totaled.

Police said Strozewski's car apparently slid out of control on a patch of ice at 6:35 a.m. and struck the slow-moving 81-car Rochester and Southern freight train at the Washburn Road crossing about a mile from his home.

The intersection is marked by signs but no lights or crossing arms, police said.

Strozewski was charged with driving too fast at a special hazard.
