JET CRASH BADLY DEPLETES BLOOD SUPPLY

The crash of a Colombian jetliner has severely depleted the area's blood supply, according to the New York Blood Center, which issued an urgent call Friday night for donors.

"The supply is low," said spokeswoman Karen Cooperman. "We especially need O-positive blood, but we certainly welcome every other type."

Several hundred pints of blood were used treating the victims of the Thursday night crash of Avianca Airlines Flight 52 in Cove Neck on approach to Kennedy Airport.
