Clarence residents were alerted Friday to a possible error on their town tax bills.
Persons should pay their bills before applying for a refund, beginning Monday, at the assessor's office in the Town Hall, said accountant Daniel Tirone.
The error involves the "townwide water" item on the bills, he said.
Some property owners not on a water line were erroneously billed, Tirone explained.
On a $100,000 home, the overcharge amounts to about $37. Tirone said the error is believed to involve between 100 and 200 out of 8,000 tax bills.
