COLDEN FIRE DIST. FAULTED ON CLAIMS DOCUMENTATION

More complete documentation of payment claims was recommended to the Colden Fire District by a state comptroller's audit of district books for 1988.

Citing payments of $2,356.08 and $150.15, the audit report said:

"Failure to require that claims be approved by the person who initiated the claim or be properly itemized for goods or services and/or sufficiently supported increases the risk that payments may be made for goods or services not actually received, or that a claim may be paid twice."

The audit also recommended that the district have a written investment policy and maintain complete property records and general ledger accounts.
