911 EMERGENCY SERVICE CUT IN SOUTH TOWNS

Emergency telephone service in the South Towns was disrupted at 2:45 p.m. Thursday when a Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. crew accidentally cut a telephone cable at South Park and Lake Avenue.

Service won't be fully restored until sometime today, a spokesman for New York Telephone Co. said. Workers restored 911 service for the Hamburg area by 6 p.m., but Eden, Boston, Springville, Gowanda, Derby and Angola did not regain the service until after 7:30 p.m., said Peter Muller, a spokesman for the utility.

Basic service to 3,000 customers in Blasdell, West Seneca and South Buffalo will not be restored until sometime today, Muller said.
