Richard Cannon, 20, of 6212 Corwin Ave. has been charged with child abuse and two counts of third-degree assault in connection with the beating of his 4-month-old daughter, Chelsa, authorities said today.
The child was taken to Inter-Community Memorial Hospital Wednesday evening and later was transferred to Children's Hospital in Buffalo. She was reported in stable condition.
Investigators Edward Garde and Calvin Rhoney of the Niagara County Sheriff's Department accused Cannon of striking the child in the head in their residence Wednesday evening and hitting her on two other occasions, Jan. 6 and 17, injuring her head and face.
Cannon was arraigned before Justice Wesley Arnold and later remanded to the Niagara County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail pending a future court appearance.
