Buffalo Arts, tied for second in The Buffalo News Small Schools poll with Olean, rolled over host Kenmore West of the Niagara Frontier League, 84-73, Wednesday night in a non-league basketball game.
Tremaine Montgomery had 28 points for Arts (12-3), while Ryan Sanders added 19 points, 17 rebounds and five steals, and Mike Hueitt had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Brian Pawlik had 21 points and Scott McManigle had 15 for the Blue Devils (7-8).
Olean (12-2) routed archrival Bradford (Pa.), 87-46, as Dean Edwards, a 6-foot-6 forward, hit on 11 of 15 from the field for 29 points and added 16 rebounds and two blocks. Klemen Zaletal, who was 7 of 10 from the field, contributed 19 points and nine rebounds for the Huskies, while Jason Clemons held Bradford's Andy Graff to seven points, 15 below his average. Brian Larson had 18 for Bradford (3-8).
Olean Walsh (13-0), the small schools' No. 1 team, defeated Pioneer, 64-47. Tom Sear had 22 points and Andy Wardein 13 for Walsh. Tim Owens netted 17 for Pioneer (6-7).
St. Joe's, also 13-0 and ranked No. 2 in the large schools poll, romped over Tonawanda, 91-32, as Chris Sprigg (10 of 18 from the field) scored 24 points. Ken Snyder had 10 points and eight assists, while Kevin Sanford had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
City Honors (6-8) edged Williamsville South, 52-49, behind Tom Thedford's 20 points and 12 rebounds. He and Cleatus Hunt, who had 12 points and nine rebounds, controlled the boards. Mike Mitchel had 15 for the Billies (5-8).
Glenn Lendel sparked North Tonawanda's 58-52 win over Starpoint with 23 points, eight rebounds, five steals and four assists. Kevin Lake had 16 points for Starpoint. Each team is 6-6.
