A disciplinary hearing for suspended School Superintendent Gail M. Stephens is scheduled to resume Feb. 1 before the Lewiston-Porter School Board.
Dr. Stephens said a 4 1/2 -hour session of the hearing was held last week behind closed doors. She said the next sessions will be on Feb. 1, 2 and 3 and March 8, 9 and 10 in the school administration building on Creek Road.
Dennis G. O'Hara of Syracuse, Dr. Stephens' lawyer, said he asked that the sessions be open to the public, but his request was denied decause he had consented to have earlier sessions held in private.
Dr. Stephens is charged with 13 counts of misconduct and contract violations, and she has been off the job since September 1988. She has denied the charges and has filed a $10 million lawsuit claiming that a five-member majority of the Board of Education has conspired to ruin her career.
While under suspension here, she is teaching educational administration at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich.
