SNOWPLOW CREW INJURED IN ROUTE 17 COLLISION

A state snowplow spun around and overturned in the center median off Route 17 about 8 a.m. Tuesday after it was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department said.

Michael Rivetti, 36, a driver, and Monty Van Buren, 51, his passenger, both of Salamanca, were treated in Salamanca District Hospital for back injuries, deputies said.

Kevin Fox, 35, of Flint, Mich., the truck driver, was treated in the same hospital for a head cut. The tractor-trailer jackknifed after the collision but did not go off the road, deputies said.

No charges were lodged, they said.
