A certified public accountant from Jamestown pleaded guilty in Chautauqua County Court Tuesday afternoon to felony grand larceny counts.
Robert A. Kroon Jr. of 575 Hunt Road will be sentenced March 12 by County Judge Lee Towne Adams.
Kroon was accused of defrauding Dr. Robert Daniels, a Jamestown obstetrician and gynecologist, of nearly $200,000 in 1988-89.
Assistant District Attorney Paul Andrews said he was arrested after an investigation launched last November by Jamestown police.
Kroon was charged with second-degree grand larceny for embezzling $121,000 last year, and placing the money -- which was to be set aside for a retirement program -- into his own account. Kroon used the money to pay off debt, Andrews said.
Kroon also was charged with third-degree grand larceny in the theft of about $41,000 in tax refunds which was due Daniels in 1988.
In another case, Michael Segren, 26, of Greenhurst, who was to go on trial for possession and sale of drugs, pleaded guilty Tuesday.
Segren was accused of selling about two pounds of marijuana to undercover police in a restaurant parking lot. He will be sentenced March 12 on charges of first- and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and second- and fifth-degree criminal
