The Aurora Town Board Monday evening approved compiling all the town codes into a single publication. Local laws have been logged in board minutes.
Supervisor Henry Hager explained that enactment of a local law was necessary to have the codes removed from the minutes and renumbered and tabulated in book form. He said the document would be updated as needed for future laws.
In another matter, the board discussed designating enclosed smoking areas in Town Hall to comply with the new state ordinance. The councilmen felt the public will be better served with a room on each floor so that staff will not have to be far from their offices.
It was suggested by Councilwoman Rosemary Spahn that no more funds be spent than necessary to comply with the law. Hager said that the money counting room in the basement requested by the tax collector could serve a dual purpose. The cost will be investigated before any action is taken, Hager said.
Proposed repairs on two bridges on Jewett-Holmwood Road between Grover Road and Route 20A will be done separately so that residents will not be inconvenienced, Hager said. The detour for trucks will be from Jewett-Holmwood over Davis Road to Route 20A. Cars will use Grover Road to 20A, he added.
In personnel matters, John Sly was reappointed to a seven-year term on the Planning Board.
