Robert Hudson Jr. has received the Common Council President's Youth Award for January in honor of his activities at Riverside High School and his neighborhood.

Hudson, a junior, is a member of the National Honor Society and French Club. The 16-year-old also tutors seventh- and eighth-graders. He is credited for starting and operating a message center at Riverside that informs students and is a public relations tool for visitors.

The son of Robert Hudson, his outside activities include serving as a Big Brother, belonging to the Town Boys Club, the Riverside Frontiers Track Team and the Bud Bakewell Bruins. He also referees at Riverside Ice Rink.

The monthly award was established by Council President George K. Arthur to honor young people who have helped make Buffalo a better place to live.
