CONSERVATIVE IS APPOINTED TO AMHERST PLANNING BOARD

The Amherst Planning Board is no longer an all-Republican board, with the appointment of Robert C. Simmons to an unexpired term.

Simmons, of Maple Road, is longtime chairman of the Amherst Conservative Committee.

His appointment by the Amherst Town Board was unanimous.

Simmons fills a vacancy created by the end-of-the-year resignation of Planning Board Chairman Howard H. English.

Amherst Planning Board members for the last several years have all been Republicans, with most also serving on the town GOP Committee.

Simmons joins Virginia Collier and Gene Jason as new appointees to Amherst citizen boards.

Jason and Mrs. Collier, wife of town Councilman Harold J. Collier, were named to the Amherst Conservation Advisory Council. Councilman Collier abstained on the vote to appoint his wife.
