The Bellamy Days '89 Festival, an annual salute to Francis Bellamy, the Mount Morris resident who authored the Pledge of Allegiance, will begin June 14, Flag Day, with an 11 a.m. ceremony presented by area elementary grade pupils at Mount Morris Central School.

The festival will continue through the week with with a day-long arts and crafts show and a flea market. Evening events June 15 include a 6 p.m. kiddies parade and the start of a firemen's carnival.

At 6 p.m. June 17 runners will register for a 5-mile run that begins at 7 p.m. A firemen's parade will march off at 7:45 p.m.

On June 18 conducted tours of the Mount Morris Dam and the home of Mount Morris' founder will be offered throughout the daylight hours. Bluegrass music will be played at Bellamy Park at 5 p.m. The festival will conclude at 10 p.m. with a fireworks display.
