Comptek Research Inc., 110 Broadway, has named William T. Lennon Jr. vice president of manufacturing and commercial electronics and president of its wholly owned subsidiary, Industrial Systems Services Inc. of Erie, Pa. He joined the company in 1984 as director manufacturing. Prior to that he served as vice president of Sierra Research Inc. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a resident of Amherst.

Comptek also appointed Dr. James R. Caprio vice president and chief scientist. He has been with the company for 15 years and most recently served as senior scientist. He holds a Ph.D. from Cornell University and master's and bachelor's degrees from the University at Buffalo. He lives in Grand Island.

Saperston & Day, a Buffalo law firm, has named Ellen Yost to its newly established Canada-United States Practice Group. She recently joined the firm's corporate department and specializes in international transactions with emphasis on Canadian-American legal practice. She is chairman of the New York State Bar Association's Committee on United States-Canada Law, International Law and Practice Section, and is president of the Buffalo Council on World Affairs.

M&T Bank has promoted Richard A. Shatzkin, Regina A. Stone and Timothy J. Veazey to assistant vice presidents.

Shatzkin is a product manager in the bank's residential mortgage secondary marketing department. He holds a bachelor's degree from Columbia University and a master's degree from Columbia's Graduate School of Business. He lives in Amherst.

Ms. Stone is currently on assignment as an analyst at the bank's New York City affiliate, East New York Savings Bank. She is a graduate of Canisius College.

Veazey, a commercial account representative, is a graduate of Cornell University and a resident of Perry.

Empire of America Realty Credit Corp., the residential mortgage banking affiliate of Empire of America Federal Savings Bank, has elected James A. Merz an accounting officer. He joined the company in 1988 as an operations review manager. Merz is a graduate of Wittenberg University. He lives in the Town of Tonawanda.

E.D. Farrell Co. Inc., 2180 Genesee St., has named Edward R. Otis treasurer. He earned a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University and a master's degree from the University of Notre Dame.

Tavco Marketing & Media Inc., a marketing and communications firm at 4700 Genesee St., has named Patricia Repman senior account coordinator. In addition to her new responsibilities, Ms. Repman will continue to serve as media buyer. She is a graduate of Trocaire College and a resident of South Buffalo.

Wendel, a design, survey and construction company that has offices in Buffalo and Lockport, has announced that Albert J. Nihill has joined its landscape architecture department. Nihill had been parks coordinator for the City of Buffalo. Nihill is a graduate of the State University of New York's College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University. Nihill lives in South Wales.

The company also promoted Karen L. Trabert from MIS manager to business manager.

Events Unlimited Inc., Six Fountain Plaza, has appointed Barbara E. Sandall director of business development. She previously was a senior account manager with Healy-Schutte & Co. advertising firm.
