POLICE CONTINUE HUNT FOR CACHE OF STOLEN HANDGUNS

Buffalo police were searching Saturday for a cache of handguns taken in the burglary of a gun shop after seizing nearly two dozen rifles and shotguns stolen in the break-in.

Three teen-agers have been arrested and 22 weapons confiscated in the investigation of the burglary Wednesday night at Ted's Key and Sport Shop, 1081 Genesee St.

"We are still looking for more handguns, and more arrests are pending," Genesee Station Officer Andrew Streicher said. In addition to the guns, Streicher said police also are looking for boxes of ammunition taken from the store.

Police believe the youths were hoping to sell the weapons.

Officers Philip Tisdale and Reginald Minor served a City Court search warrant Thursday night at 453 Sweet Ave., confiscating 12 rifles and shotguns and charging Edward L. Anderson, 16, of 528 Northampton St. with possessing stolen property, police said.

Later, police recovered nine long guns and a pistol from a garage at 298 Woltz Ave. Also arrested for possession of stolen property were Marcus Brooks 18, of 17 Latour St. and Jermaine McCoolul, 16, of 44 Sweet Ave.
