Services for Edward P. Wittkopp, a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls who was a well-known figure in the downtown area, will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in the Rhoney Funeral Home, 1124 Ontario Ave. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Wittkopp, 84, of Sixth Street died Thursday (May 25, 1989) in St. Mary's Manor Nursing Home.

He was wounded while serving with the U.S. Army during World War II in the Aleutian Islands, and he was awarded the Purple Heart. Wittkopp worked for the Hare Vending Co. from 1950 to 1960.
