The state will contribute $150,000 toward a $879,500 study of ways to increase productivity at Arcata Graphics in Depew.
The firm prints the Reader's Digest, Harlequin Books and the National Enquirer, among several national publications.
The $150,000 grant has been awarded by the state's Industrial Effectiveness Program, part of the Department of Economic Development.
Company officials said the intention of the study is not to cut jobs. Among things to be looked at are work and material flow, the plant's 10-year plan for getting and keeping customers, and ways to make production schedules more efficient.
