Arthur R. Smith, 90, a former Buffalo and Jamestown resident, died May 13, 1989, in St. Petersburg, Fla., where he had lived since 1977.

He had been awarded the Purple Heart in World War I, and was a member of the New York State Overseas Veterans, associate life member of the Blind Veterans Association and a life member of the Jamestown Veterans of Foreign Wars and Elks.

Survivors include his wife, Laurabelle; two sons, Arthur R. Smith Jr. of Grand Island and Thomas W. Smith of Orchard Park, and seven grandchildren.
