3 TO GET HONORARY DEGREES AT NIAGARA CONVOCATION

Jazz innovator Dave Brubek, comedian-actor Jack Gilford and choreographer Gemze de Lappe will receive honorary degrees June 3 during a special Niagara University convocation at Artpark.

Brother Augustine Towey, director of the university's theater studies program, will receive the Medal of Honor for exceptional service over an extended period of time. He started the theater program in 1973 and has been with the university since 1964 when he began directing the University Players.

Brubek will receive an honorary doctorate degree in music, Gilford a doctorate in humane letters and Miss de Lappe, who is a current artist-in-residence at Smith College, a doctorate in fine arts.
