New York State Federation of Women's Clubs second annual Dorothy Strayer-Priemer music award was won for the second year by a contestant from the federation's Eighth District. Ivan Raykoff of Eden, pianist and member of this year's graduating class in Eastman School of Music, was named the winner at the state federation's 95th annual convention earlier this month in Cooperstown. Celesta Serio presented a check for $1,000 to Mr. Raykoff, who was sponsored by Pro-To Club of Buffalo. State judges included Janice Epke Baldwin, Mary Louise Nanna and Dr. Joseph Wincenc. Frances Scharett, Eighth District music chairwoman, conducted the local contest.

First prize in the federation's scholarship competition also was won by an Eighth District entry. Christina Ambrose received $1,000 to study in Buffalo State College. Anita Osborne is district scholarship chairwoman.

Western New York Federation of Women's Clubs had three finalists in the state creative writing contest.

They are student poetry, second place, Laura Textor; clubwoman poetry, third prize, Mrs. Robert E. Maier; clubwoman prose, second prize, Jacklin Stopp. Mrs. Howard E. Trudel is district creative writing chairwoman.

The late Ina D. Alt, a past president of Buffalo Federation of Women's Clubs, was named posthumously to the state federation's honor roll at the convention.
