Students attending the Lewiston-Porter Senior Prom Friday evening at the Ramada Inn in Niagara Falls will be treated to a post-prom party on a Canadian-based tour boat during the early hours of Saturday morning on the lower Niagara River.
The cruise aboard the 110-passenger "Senator" of Niagara-on-the-lake, Ont., will be sponsored by We-CAN (Community Awareness Network), Students Against Drunk Driving and the Lewiston Kiwanis Club.
Martha A. Garner, president of We-CAN, said residents along the river have been asked to leave their lights on from 1 to 4 a.m. Saturday to beautify the shoreline and to show their support for the alcohol-free party for this year's graduating seniors.
Al Bax, a disc jockey who graduated last year from Lewiston-Porter, will provide music for dancing during the cruise; moonlight strolls will take place under the canopy of the upper deck, and snacks will be served in the lower deck dining room.
Tickets for the post-prom party are $10 each, but the money will be refunded when the students board the boat at the Riverside Inn. "That's to make sure they will show up," Mrs. Garner said.
This is the third year that the organizations have sponsored free entertainment after the Lew-Port Senior Prom. The previous two parties were held at a local bowling alley.
