CAO GETS STATE GRANT FOR UNITS FOR HOMELESS

The Community Action Organization of Erie County will receive a $600,000 state grant to construct seven or eight units of housing in Buffalo for homeless female heads of household.

The homes will be built at East Ferry Street and Roeher Avenue. The grant is from the state Social Service Department's Homeless Housing and Assistance Program.

"The state funding of this important project represents a critical first step in providing needy families with stability and direction toward a brighter future," said State Sen. Anthony M. Masiello, D-Buffalo, who announced the grant.
