Just in time for summer, there is Rescue, a sunscreen lotion that repels bugs and does not wash off easily when you wade in the water.
Steve Schulze, a 26-year-old entrepreneur from Newport Beach, Calif., who has produced other tanning products through his Body 2000 company, concocted the new lotion because he was tired of applying sunscreen and insect repellent when he played golf. His new product contains no pesticides, offers sunscreen protection from 4 to 25 SPF and is PABA-free. Its active sunscreen ingredients are octyl methoxycinnamate and benzophenone-3.
Rescue, a company spokeswoman said, underwent testing in California and Hawaii. Non-greasy and citrus-scented, it is especially effective against mosquitoes. A 4-ounce bottle costs $5.95 and can be ordered through the company's toll-free number, (800) 537-6227.
