We moved to South Buffalo from New York City 1 1/2 years ago with our German shepherd.
In New York City, we abided by the pooper-scooper law by picking up after our dog. I find it easier to carry a pooper-scooper with me and catch the droppings when the dog hunches for defecation. I do that here.
People riding by in cars look at me as if I were some kind of a nut, though one person did stop to commend me.
In our neighborhood most dogs are fenced in, but some run loose and defecate on our front lawn. With a bad back I find it difficult to pick up after someone elses dog.
Those few who walk their dog do not carry a plastic bag or newspaper to clean up, but leave it on the sidewalk for some poor soul to step on.
Buffalo needs stricter enforcement to get after these miscreants who need to learn better manners. I also believe it should be mandatory for pet supply stores to have pooper-scoopers on display.
