Whatever happened to the "Land of Opportunity?" Why should Finns, Swedes, Soviets and Czechs be disallowed to excel at playing hockey in America? It's a shame that some people continue to see Russia as our enemy. What's even worse is how some people automatically don't like someone just because of what country they come from.

Alexander Mogilny is the best thing that's happened to the Buffalo Sabres since the drafting of one Gil Perrault. Mogilny is to the Sabres as Jim Kelly was to the Bills two years ago. He is their future and should be treated as such.

As for the European players, aside from Gretzky, Lemieux and Yzerman, they are the finest talents in the league. Such players as Hakan Loob, Mats Naslund, Jari Kurri and Peter Stastny are the backbones of their respective clubs. I think it's great that foreign players want to come to America and Canada to play. I take pride in that. The NHL wouldn't be able to exist without Europeans and Russians. There wouldn't be enough players to maintain the talent level the NHL has today.

We do need the Russians, Swedes, Finns, etc., and some of us do want them!
