Portland is putting together a nice young team that's going to be a force in a few years. McRoberts is another nice piece to what should be one of the better teams in the West sooner than later. --- Rodney McKissic

Davidson has a huge wingspan who runs the court well, kind of a poor man's Brandon Wright but not nearly as good offensively. --- Rodney McKissic

Big Baby? Big Maybe! But this isn't a bad pick in the second round even though I think of Robert "Tractor" Traylor every time I see him and we all know what a bust he turned out to be. --- Rodney McKissic

My buddy from California thinks this guy can be another Kevin McHale. He also told me Mike Dunleavy was the next Larry Bird and J.R. Henderson the next Scottie Pippen so I take his opinions with a grain of salt. --- Rodney McKissic

Here's a shocker: The Spurs take an American player! I see a little Bruce Bowen in Williams so it's easy to see why they took him. --- Rodney McKissic

I heard Thursday that the USC coaches were angry about Pruitt turning pro and didn't give favorable recommendations to the NBA scouts. But he's a nice player who can score and is very athletic. Another year in school and Pruitt would have been a first rounder but I don't think he wanted to share the spotlight with incoming freshman O.J. Mayo. ---Rodney McKissic

He's not that big, but Landry is tough and I just saw some footage of him blocking Greg Oden's shot. --- Rodney McKissic

The first round is over and the Sixers made a nice choice with Koponen. He's a 6-4 point guard who is an excellent passer and good shooter. He just turned 19 so he might be better served playing overseas another season. There's some good players still left on the board, like Taurean Green, Marcus Williams, Josh McRoberts and Aaron Gray. ---Rodney McKissic

He'll be able to come off the bench and the Suns won't miss a beat. Put Tucker in the open court on the wing and he becomes one of the better players in the draft. I thought he was more of a second round guy, but he's a nice fit in the Suns' system. The first round is almost over and there's still good players left like USC's Gabe Pruitt, Ramon Sessions and Marc Gasol. -…

The Spurs get another international player. Imagine that? He isn't likely to play for the Spurs next year and they'll probably stash him overseas to get more seasoning. The Spurs will always contend as long as they keep players like Splitter around to complement Tim Duncan and Tony Parker. --- Rodney McKissic

A great fit. I thought the Pistons would go with someone more athletic but Affalo is a smart player with good size and a quick release. He'll probably be more of a defender in the NBA than a scorer. ---Rodney McKissic

The Rockets need a shooter and Brooks can put the ball in the hole. He's going to provide instant offense off the bench along with third-year guard Luther Head. Yes, Houston also needs help at power forward, but that's what the free agent market is for. --- Rodney McKissic

Almond is a Utah kind of player. I thought UCLA's Arron Affalo would be a nice player here, but Almond is better. He was the C-USA Player of the Year and he can flat out shoot the ball from mid range. Almond is not that quick but he's a very intelligent player who works well off screens. Jerry Sloan is going to love this guy! --- Rodney McKissic

The Suns are making this selection for Portland, which bought this pick from the Suns at the last minute. Fernandez has a game that's a lot like Manu Ginobili and if he plays in the league next season, he'll help the Blazers off the bench. --- Rodney McKissic

I got another one right in my mock draft! Chandler is a decent athlete who finishes well at the rim and is improving his jump shot. He could develop into a defensive stopper. The Knicks and Trail Blazers reached agreement on a deal that swaps Zach Randolph and teammates Dan Dickau and Freddie Jones for  guard Steve Francis and Channing Frye. Nice more for the Knicks.…
